Children, children!

That's why you should go on a family holiday on the Alm.

By God, we don't want to demonise smartphones, tablets and the like here. These devices are part of reality and it would be neither sensible nor possible to keep children away from them completely. Nevertheless, brain researchers, developmental psychologists and we at Naturhotel Runa all agree that children benefit enormously from more analogue adventures instead of digital "screen time". And it's obvious that an alpine pasture is perfect for a real, family-friendly break from everyday life: because the peace and quiet that prevails on an alpine pasture opens up spaces. Inside and outside. For people big and small. For big and small wonders. It's no secret: fresh mountain air, sunshine and high-quality food make our little ones blossom. Can we tell you more about why a stay on the mountain pasture is so good for little minds and souls? We look forward to you reading on!

#1 There is enormous power in silence

Modern people are no longer used to silence. Even the youngest children are constantly exposed to sound and music. There is no entertainment on a mountain pasture, hardly any mobile phone reception and only very rarely internet. And that's a good thing! Instead, you can hear the wind whispering and watch the clouds on their wanderings. Would you like to do a little mindfulness exercise that our guest children particularly enjoy? Lie down in the alpine meadow, set a timer on your watch or smartphone for 5 minutes and close your eyes. Now try to guess when the five minutes are up. Our holiday guest children love this guessing game and really enjoy just being allowed to "be" for once. After all, there's plenty to do and create in everyday life.

#2 Learning for life on the side

Where do deer sleep? Can you really eat sorrel? Where are snowflakes born? How do you know when to cut the hay? And how is bacon made? If your child is currently in the "why phase", an alpine holiday could be the very best idea. After all, an alpine pasture is not only a great playground, but also an excellent testing ground for young researchers and anyone who wants to know everything. This turns a summer retreat or a winter break in the mountains into an "educational holiday in disguise". Particularly valuable: the knowledge is tangible in the truest sense of the word. Once you've walked barefoot across an Alpine meadow, for example, you'll quickly realise why there's an old country saying about why you should only be out and about in the mountains without shoes in months without an "R" in the name.

#3 The value of values

We don't know what you want to pass on to your children for life. Perhaps your ideas coincide with ours? Up here at Runa, we want to treat every living being with respect and leave the planet better than when we set foot on it with our daily decisions. We are proud of our origins and traditions and preserve the heritage of previous generations. We always think about those who come after us and are always open to new ideas. We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to get to know our Naturhotel Runa as a refuge for you and your family. Would you like to take a look around our new website? We'd love to hear from you if you have any questions or feedback!
